Abstract
Umat yang akan menerima sakramen baptis sedapat mungkin diberi wali baptis yang menjadi teladan baik dan bersedia mendampingi anak dan orang dewasa yang baru dibaptis pada jalan kehidupan Kristiani (KHK, Kan 872). Peran dan tanggungjawab wali baptis penting bagi perkembangan iman anak baptis baik sebelum, pada saat, dan setelah penerimaan sakramen pembaptisan. Maka dari itu sebagai wali baptis tidak hanya berperan saat upacara pembaptisan saja. Namun realitanya wali baptis hanya hadir pada saat penerimaan sakramen pembaptisan dan melaksanakan tugasnya secara formalitas. Sesuai dengan Martasudjita dalam (Triningsih, 2015: 5) mengungkapkan bahwa, banyak sekali wali baptis yang hanya hadir dalam upacara pembaptisan dan setelah itu tidak pernah lagi menemani anak baptis mereka, khususnya di dalam perkembangan iman anaknya itu sendiri. Berdasarkan persoalan di atas, dirumuskan beberapa masalah sebagai berikut: 1) Bagaimana pemahaman wali baptis tentang peran dan tugas mereka terhadap anak baptis di stasi St. Petrus Warujayeng? 2) Bagaimana pelaksanaan peran dan tanggungjawab wali baptis dalam mendidik anak baptis mereka di stasi St. Petrus Warujayeng? 3) Apa saja tantangan dan kekuatan yang dialami wali baptis ketika melaksanakan peran dan tugasnya di stasi St. Petrus Warujayeng?
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) Mengetahui pemahaman wali baptis tentang peran dan tugas mereka terhadap anak baptis di stasi St. Petrus Warujayeng. 2) Mengetahui pelaksanaan peran dan tanggungjawab wali baptis dalam mendidik anak baptis mereka di stasi St. Petrus Warujayeng. 3) Mengetahui tantangan dan kekuatan yang dialami wali baptis ketika melaksanakan peran dan tugasnya di stasi St. Petrus Warujayeng.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengambilan data melalui wawancara. Responden penelitian ini dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria: 1) Wali baptis yang bertugas pada periode 2015-2019; 2) Umat asli stasi St. Petrus Warujayeng; 3) Wali baptis terlibat aktif dalam kegiatan menggereja yaitu sebagai ketua lingkungan, asisten imam, dan anggota WKRI. Waktu penelitian yang digunakan oleh peneliti berlangsung pada bulan 26 Oktober – 28 Oktober 2021.
Penelitian ini menghasilkan beberapa kesimpulan: 1) Wali baptis memahami bahwa sebagai orang tua rohani adalah berperan dan bertanggungjawab membimbing, membina iman, dan mendampingi pertumbuhan anak baptis. 2) Wali baptis di stasi St. Petrus Warujayeng dalam pelaksanaan penerimaan Liturgi pembaptisan sudah melaksanakan peran dan tanggungjawab yang berlangsung sebelum, pada saat, dan setelah penerimaan sakramen pembaptisan. 3) Tantangan yang dialami wali baptis terdiri dari faktor internal dan ekternal, faktor internal adalah wali baptis tidak percaya diri mengemban tugas tersebut dan faktor eksternal adalah jarak wali baptis dan anak baptis sangat jauh, lainnya adalah anak yang telah menerima sakramen pembaptisan kembali pindah agama karena faktor perkawinan. Kekuatan wali baptis di stasi St. Petrus Warujayeng adalah doa dan menjadi teladan yang baik dalam kehidupan Kristiani.

People who will receive the sacrament of baptism as far as possible are given godparents who are good examples and are willing to accompany newly baptized children and adults on the Christian way of life (CIC, Can 872). The role and responsibilities of godparents are important for the development of the faith of a godchild before, during, and after receiving the sacrament of baptism. Therefore, as godparents do not only play a role during the baptismal ceremony. However, the reality is that godparents are only present at the time of receiving the sacrament of baptism and carrying out their duties in a formal manner. In accordance with Martasudjita in (Triningsih, 2015: 5) revealed that, there are many godparents who are only present at the baptismal ceremony and after that they never accompany their godson again, especially in the development of their own faith. Based on the problems above, several problems were formulated as follows: 1) What is the understanding of the godparents regarding their roles and duties towards the godson at St. Peter Warujayeng? 2) How are the roles and responsibilities of godparents in educating their godson at St. Peter Warujayeng? 3) What are the challenges and strengths that godparents experience when carrying out their roles and duties at the St. Peter Warujayeng?
The aims of this study: 1) To find out the understanding of the godparents about their roles and duties towards the godson at the St. Petrus Warujayeng. 2) Knowing the implementation of the roles and responsibilities of godparents in educating their godson at St. Petrus Warujayeng. 3) Knowing the challenges and strengths experienced by godparents when carrying out their roles and duties at the St. Petrus Warujayeng.
This study use qualitative research methods with data collection techniques through interviews respondents of this study were selected using a purposive sampling technique with the following criteria: 1) godparents who served in the 2015-2019 period; 2) The natives of the St. Petrus Warujayeng; 3) The godparents are actively involved in church activities, namely as neighborhood leaders, assistant priests, and members of WKRI. The research time used by the researchers took place from October 26 to October 28, 2021.
This study resulted in several conclusions: 1) Godparents understand that as spiritual parents, it is their role and responsibility to guide, foster faith, and accompany the growth of the godson. 2) The godparents at the St. Petrus Warujayeng in the implementation of the reception of the Liturgy of Baptism has carried out the roles and responsibilities that take place before, during, and after receiving the sacrament of baptism. 3) The challenges faced by godparents consist of internal and external factors, internal are that the godparents are not confident in carrying out these tasks and external are the distance between the godparents and the godson is very far away, another is that children who have received the sacrament of baptism are re-converted because marital factor. The power of the godparents at the St. Petrus Warujayeng is a prayer and a good example in Christian life.
