Abstract

Maria Kristina, “Peran Guru Dalam Membentuk Karakter Disiplin Siswa Studi Kasus SMPK Karitas 2 Surabaya.”
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran guru dalam membentuk karakter disiplin siswa di SMPK Karitas 2 Surabaya. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil pengamatan peneliti terkait keunikan yang dimiliki SMPK Karitas 2 Surabaya, yakni penerapan sistem poin kedisiplinan dan buku pribadi siswa sebagai sarana pembinaan karakter. Sistem ini tidak hanya menekan aspek pengendalian, tetapi juga mengedepankan pembentukan kesadaran dan tanggung jawab siswa terhadap kedisiplinan. Hal ini menjadi penting karena secara umum masih dijumpai berbagai perilaku tidak disiplin di kalangan siswa, seperti terlambat masuk sekolah, tidak mengerjakan tugas, melanggar aturan, hingga kurangnya sikap hormat kepada guru dan orang tua.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Penentuan informan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling sehingga subjek penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah, kesiswaan, guru BK, dan guru tatib.Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan langkah-langkah pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru memiliki peran yang penting dalam membentuk karakter disiplin siswa di SMPK Karitas 2 Surabaya, yang dijalankan melalui empat peran utama yakni sebagai pendidik, pembimbing, teladan dan motivator dalam membentuk kedisiplinan siswa. Strategi yang digunakan meliputi pendekatan konsep diri, pembiasaan, penyusunan aturan yang jelas, serta penerapan reward dan punishment. Faktor pendukung meliputi kesadaran siswa, keterlibatan guru secara langsung, dan dukungan orang tua. Sementara hambatan berasal dari kurangnya peran keluarga dan pengaruh negatif teman sebaya.

Maria Kristina, “The Role of Teachers in Shaping Student Discipline Character: A Case Study of SMPK Karitas 2 Surabaya.”
This study aims to explore the role of teachers in shaping student discipline character education at SMPK Karitas 2 Surabaya. This study is motivated by the researcher's observations regarding the unique aspects of SMPK Karitas 2 Surabaya, namely the implementation of a discipline point system and student personal journals as tools for character development. This system not only emphasizes control but also prioritizes the development of students' awareness and responsibility toward discipline. This is important because in general, various undisciplined behaviors are still found among students, such as being later to school, not doing assigments, breaking rules, and a lack of respect for teacher and parents.
This study employs a qualitative approach using the case study method. The selection of informants in this study used purposive sampling, with the research subjects being the school principal, student affairs staff, guidance counselors, and discipline teachers. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the steps of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.
The results of the study indicate that teachers play an important role in shaping student discipline at SMPK Karitas 2 Surabaya, carried out through four main roles: as educators, mentors, role models, and motivators in fostering student discipline. The strategies employed include self-concept approaches, habit formation, clear rule-setting, and the application of rewards and punishments. Supporting factors include student awareness, direct teacher involvement, and parental support. Meanwhile, obstacles stem from the lack of family involvement and the negative influence of peers.
