Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada pendidikan karakter gemar membaca melalui Program Gerakan Literasi Sekolah di SDK Santa Clara Surabaya. Penelitian dilakukan di SDK Santa Clara Surabaya karena memiliki keunggulan karakter inesian yang relevan dengan karakter gemar membaca. Karakter inesian yakni kegembiraan, kesederhanaan, dan keceriaan memiliki keterkaitan membentuk para siswa agar memiliki karakter gemar membaca dengan perasaaan gembira dan cerita. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengeksplorasi upaya yang dilakukan dalam membangun karakter gemar membaca melalui program Gerakan Literasi Sekolah serta menjawab rumusan masalah fokus dan subfokus yang sudah dirumuskan peneliti dalam melaksanakan penelitian di SDK Santa Clara Surabaya.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus menggunakan teknik triangulasi data. Penentuan informan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling sehingga subjek penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah, pustakawan, para guru, dan juga siswa. Pengumpulan data diambil melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan langkah-angkah pengumpulan data, kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Teknik pemeriksaan keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teknik.
Hasil penelitian adalah: (1) upaya Gerakan Literasi Sekolah dalam pendidikan karakter gemar membaca yakni dengan program sekolah, fasilitas sekolah dan sarana prasarana, kualitas guru dan tenaga kependidikan. Berbagai kegiatan juga dilakukan seperti membaca 15 menit sebelum pembelajaran, kunjungan ke perpustakaan, kegiatan bulan bahasa, kunjungan perpustakaan daerah, mading kelas, serta menuliskan jurnal membaca. (2) Gerakan Literasi Sekolah di SDK Santa Clara yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahapan yakni tahap pembiasaan, tahap pengembangan, dan juga tahap pembelajaran. (3) Minat membaca siswa di SDK Santa Clara Surabaya sudah baik hanya saja belum maksimal. Pernyataan terbukti dari hasil wawancara dan observasi yakni masih ada siswa yang tidak memanfaatkan waktu literasi dengan baik. Para murid juga masih belum maksimal dalam menggunakan fasilitas membaca di perpustakaan.

This research focuses on character education like reading through the School Literacy Movement Program at SDK Santa Clara Surabaya. The research was conducted at SDK Santa Clara Surabaya because it has the advantages of inesian characters that are relevant to characters who like to read. Inesian characters, namely joy, simplicity, and cheerfulness, have a relationship to shape students to have characters who like to read with happy feelings and stories. The purpose of this study is to explore the efforts made in building the character of reading through the School Literacy Movement program and answer the formulation of focus and subfocus problems that have been formulated by researchers in carrying out research at SDK Santa Clara Surabaya.
This research is a descriptive research qualitative approach with a case study method using data triangulation techniques. The determination of informants in this study used purposive sampling techniques so that the subjects of this study were principals, librarians, teachers, and also students. Data collection is taken through interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The data were analyzed using data collection measures, data condensation, data presentation, and inference. The technique of checking the validity of data uses source triangulation and triangulation techniques.
The results of the study are: (1) the efforts of the School Literacy Movement in character education like reading, namely with school programs, school facilities and infrastructure, the quality of teachers and education staff. Various activities are also carried out such as reading 15 minutes before learning, library visits, language month activities, regional library visits, class mading, and writing reading journals.
(2) The School Literacy Movement in SDK Santa Clara which is carried out in three stages, namely the habituation stage, the development stage, and also the learning stage. (3) The reading interest of students at SDK Santa Clara Surabaya is good, it's just not optimal. The statement is evident from the results of interviews and observations that there are still students who do not use literacy time well. The students are also still not optimal in using reading facilities in the library.
