Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang efektivitas penggunaan metode cerita dalam meningkatkan prestasi belajar peserta didik sekolah dasar di kota Madiun, mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis sejauh mana penerapan metode ceramah dan cerita dalam belajar mengajar berpengaruh terhadap prestasi belajar peserta didik Sekolah Dasar.

Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif. Proses pelaksanaan penelitian ini terbagi menjadi 4 langkah yaitu: persiapan, pelaksanaan, pengolahan data, dan laporan penelitian. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah guru Pendidikan Agama Katolik yang mengajar di Sekolah Dasar Katolik di kota Madiun.

Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 3 responden (75%) menyatakan bahwa penggunaan metode cerita dapat meningkatkan prestasi belajar peserta didik. Hasil belajar peserta didik ketika menggunakan metode cerita secara umum dapat dikatakan lebih baik atau memuaskan. Peserta didik mudah mengingat materi pelajaran, bisa mengembangkan pikiran, peserta didik lebih aktif, dan bisa menjawab soal-soal penilaian dengan baik. Terdapat 2 responden (50%) menyatakan bahwa hasil belajar peserta didik ketika menggunakan metode ceramah/konvensional secara umum dapat dikatakan kurang memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan prestasi belajar. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan hasil evaluasi belajar peserta didik yang tidak maksimal, yaitu: peserta didik kurang bisa memahami materi ajar karena penjelasan terlalu panjang, peserta didik kurang bisa mengembangkan jawaban mereka dan mudah lupa terhadap materi yang diberikan, dan sumber materi terbatas hanya dari guru saja.

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diatas dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan metode cerita dalam proses pembelajaran Agama Katolik di sekolah lebih efektif digunakan untuk menyampaikan materi pelajaran kepada peserta didik, sehingga kompetensi yang sudah ditetapkan dapat tercapai.

This study discussed the effectiveness of using the story method in improving the learning achievement of elementary school students in the subject of Catholic Religious Education, in Madiun. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which the lecture and story methods are applied in learning process relacted to the Catholic Religious Education subject.

This research used qualitative method. The research process was divided into 4 steps, namely: preparation, implementation, data processing, and research reports. Respondents in this study were Catholic Religious Education teachers who were teaching at Catholic Primary Schools in Madiun City.

The results of the study indicated that 3 respondents (75%) stated that the use of the story method can improve students' learning achievement. Students’ learning outcomes while using the story method in general could be said to be better. Students easily remembered the subject matter, could develop theirown minds, students were more active, and can answer well assessment questions. There were 2 respondents (50%) stated that the learning outcomes of students when using the lecture / conventional method in general could be said to have less influence on increasing learning achievement. This was indicated by the results of the evaluation of students achievement that were not optimal. Students were not able to understand the teaching material because the explanation was too long. Students were not able to develop their answers and easily forget the material being thought, and the material source was limited only from the teacher.

Based on this result of the study, it could be concluded that the use of story method in the learning process of Catholic Religious Sunject in the schools was more effectively to convey subject matter to students. This made the predetermined competencies could be achieved.
